The ideal time to visit Socotra is between October and April when temperatures are milder (25-32°C) and monsoon winds are calm. Summer months (May-September) can be very hot and some activities may be limited due to strong winds.
Yes, all visitors to Socotra require a visa. Through One Piece Tours, we handle the entire visa application process and sponsorship requirements. You'll need to provide passport copies and other documentation approximately 6-8 weeks before travel.
All our packages include accommodation, all meals (unless specified), transportation on Socotra, English-speaking guides, entrance fees, and activities listed in the itinerary. International flights to Socotra and travel insurance are not included but we can help arrange these.
Our standard tours require moderate fitness for walking on uneven terrain and some optional hikes. Our Adventure Seeker package requires good fitness as it involves multi-day treks. We can customize itineraries for those with mobility concerns - please contact us to discuss options.
We use 4WD vehicles (typically Toyota Land Cruisers) as most roads in Socotra are unpaved. Some areas may require short hikes to reach. For our longer trekking packages, we use camels to carry equipment between camps.
We'll send a detailed packing list upon booking. Essentials include: good hiking shoes, sandals, sun protection (hat, sunscreen), light clothing for daytime, warm layer for evenings, swimwear, waterproof bag for boats, basic medical kit, flashlight, and camera.
